John Wynne has been around motorbikes since he was a young
boy. His family rode motorbikes and his Grandfather was a celebrated mechanic
who ran a successful motor business on the Wirral for many years.
Starting work at 16 John progressed through his
apprenticeship with Honda and enjoyed many years working for various manufacturers
such as Triumph and BMW but his real passion was Harley-Davidson. He started
his Harley-Davidson® career back in 1999 when he was chosen as part of a new
team that established the first Chester city-based Harley-Davidson® dealership
called Centurion Harley-Davidson®. From day one, John was instrumental in the
setup and running of the workshop repair and diagnostic side of the business
and continued to advance through the Harley-Davidson training program in the
USA and Germany.
Centurion gained a fantastic following and enjoyed an enviable
reputation as the Northwest’s premier Harley-Davidson® dealership, winning
several awards for customer service and technical knowhow. It was also the
birthplace of the popular Deva Legion HOG chapter which was formed in the year
2000.
John was given a new challenge in 2004, when unfortunately,
Centurion Chester closed its doors for good and he was approached by the owners
of a new venture based in the heart of the Cheshire Oaks development in
Chester. He was asked to join the now recognised Chester Harley-Davidson® as a
senior technician and was again involved with the setting up and day to day
running of the busy workshop from day one. John continued to work at Chester Harley-Davidson®
and level up through the Harley-Davidson® training program and in 2005 he was
awarded the coveted Harley-Davidson® Master Technician Status whilst attending
the Harley-Davidson® factory in Milwaukee USA. John continued to work at
Chester Harley-Davidson® until he decided to take on his biggest challenge yet
– setting up his own business - Harley-Davidson® specialists JWA Motorcycles
in 2008.
Through the years timeline
In 2010 saw the expansion of a purpose built MOT station and extra staff to deal with the increased demand for their service of extra makes and models of motorcycle. The workshop was also updated with the latest dealer level diagnostic equipment and tooling. With continuous training programmes and a dedicated 2 post trike lift installed.
John says... I always knew that I had more to offer the biking community than just working behind closed workshop doors. Your motorcycle is your personal statement and a great companion. It should be treated with respect and maintained to the highest standards. This is why I decided to start my own business here in Bromborough on the beautiful Wirral peninsula. This meant I could work to my own high standards and provide customers with the best experience of the brand. JWA Motorcycles was formed in 2008 as a Harley-Davidson® specialist, providing a full range of services to the biker community throughout the Wirral, Chester, North Wales, and Northwest England. Now in 2024 and celebrating 16 years at the forefront of our craft. JWA Motorcycles has expanded over the years and now has a full team of experienced factory trained staff and undertakes work on several other makes of motorcycle alongside Harley-Davidson®. This includes Triumph®, BMW® and Royal Enfield® to name but a few. Our ethos is simple and remains unchanged – treat your customers as you would wish to be treated yourself.
Further expansion was required of workshop facilities and a dedicated workshop manager. The workshop now has 8 work ramps in full time use with 4 technicians and 2 front counter staff. Further diagnostic capabilities were introduced to keep pace with the changing world of motorcycles.
Introduction of a dedicated custom and fabrication department building bikes as well as modifying them, many of the motorcycles built were featured in several of the leading bike magazines. To ensure delivery of such projects the workshop had 6 ramps and a team of 4 staff members. Major suppliers of aftermarket parts for Harley-Davidson were also introduced to satisfy customer demand.
Completion of new offices for reception and sales duties along with a new waiting area for customers. Our diagnostic capabilities and tooling updated and upgraded to comply with manufacturers practices and specialist service delivery.
The introduction of a dedicated aftermarket parts department was formed to cater for the custom bike scene. Workshop capacity was increased to 10 full time workshop ramps in operation. As demand grew for the purchase of our used motorcycles, a dedicated indoor ready to ride sales area was designed to accommodate a viewing area of all motorycles for sale.
To celebrate 15 years in business, and our pleasure serving the biking community far and wide since the day we opened our doors, we are bringing our brand and services up to date once again. To bring our website up to date, the website was been designed to reflect our 15 years and offer better functions and fulfilment. Some changes to our exterior signage have been made and we have made further investment across the year with our diagnostic equipment and knowldege base.
Came through the dynamics of COVID-19 to maintain our strong position within the biking community far and wide. Continuing to maintain the focus on customer satisfaction and a solid work ethic of honesty and integrity at all times. Working to this ethic has established our loyal customer base, with a strong reputation, and a name of which we are immensely proud to have achieved over the years.
