One of the most overlooked parts of a bike at maintenance time is the steering system. The steering system contains many parts which all work together to keep the bike going where you want it to go. These parts include: Handlebars, Bar Risers, Front Headstock assembly and Headstock bearings. Headstock bearings should be inspected and lubricated at every service and checked for excess play and notchiness when turning from left to right. An important consideration is the height and width of the handlebars to ensure a comfortable riding position.
