Brake pads and brake discs are serviceable items which wear down as you cover mileage. The brake pads should be inspected at every service and MOT. There are a lot of different brands on the market. We stock most major brands such as EBC, Goldfren, TRW, SBS, etc. Another item which should not be overlooked at service time is the condition of the front and rear brake fluid. This fluid is hygroscopic which means over time it absorbs moisture from the air which breaks down the fluid and causes it to fail under pressure of braking. This means you could lose your brakes altogether. We recommend checking the brake fluid yearly, ideally at service time when the rest of the brake system would be inspected, then replacing if necessary. Got a question?
